Velma worked for the Farm Service Agency of the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) retiring after 46 years. She worked as a program technician administering the farm program for farmers in Elkhart County. Velma also worked as a part-time typesetter for the Wakarusa Tribune, as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) at Elkhart General Hospital, and as receptionist at a doctor’s office.
Velma enjoys sewing, quilting, and making and selling purses. She has three sons and six grandsons and volunteers at SonSet Solutions once a week serving as receptionist.
