She had lost all hope. Her mind was filled with terrible thoughts, and she only saw two options. She could either end her life or lock up her kids in a room and leave. This was the desperate story of one of the listeners of Choma 102.3 FM. Despite her despair, something remarkable happened. Tuning in, she heard a message that spoke directly to her heart.
The station, reaching over 500,000 Zambians with the gospel message and transforming the lives of Tonga-speaking people, provides much-needed Christian teaching and music. It is the sixth radio station added to the One Love FM radio network in Zambia. The rapid acceptance of this station became evident – it generated 60% of all listener responses within the One Love Radio network.
Behind the scenes, SonSet Solutions played a vital role, supplying equipment – including a 750-watt transmitter and an FM audio processor – that enabled Choma FM to reach its listeners. The distribution of SonSet® radios throughout Zambia has helped thousands to hear messages of hope and encouragement and most importantly the good news of the gospel.
One Love FM’s impact hasn’t gone unnoticed. Recently, the network was honored with awards for “Most Improved Station” and the “Chairman’s Award for Best Station in Zambia” by the Independent Broadcast Authority. These achievements reflect the dedication of the team and the profound influence their broadcasts have had across the country.
For the woman who felt trapped in hopelessness, the gospel message offered a way out. That night, she chose to give her life to Jesus. Today, her solar-powered radio is more than just a device – it is her daily lifeline, connecting her to faith, hope, and a community that cares.
