One stormy evening in a small village outside Tabora, Tanzania, an elderly man named Juma sat alone in his mud‑brick house. Rain hammered the tin roof, and the wind slipped through the cracks like a cold breath. His children had moved away, leaving him with a loneliness that felt heavier on nights like this. Seeking a bit of comfort, he reached for his old radio and slowly turned the dial.
Through the crackling static, a faint voice emerged. It was Radio Uhai. Then came the words that pierced the darkness around him: “Even though I walk through the valley, I will fear no evil.” Juma later shared that it felt as though God Himself had spoken into his despair. That weak signal in the middle of a storm became a lifeline of faith. It led him to a local church where he now sits among friends who greet him warmly. The message of hope reached Juma at the exact moment he needed it most.
For nine years, Radio Uhai – known as The Voice of Hope in Tabora – has been broadcasting Christian music, Bible teaching, and local programs in Swahili. Listeners tune in through simple radios or through the live radio app on their phones and tablets. The station is now expanding its reach to Urambo and Nzega so that more people like Juma can hear the truth of the gospel.
SonSet Solutions has been privileged to provide the transmitter, broadcast antenna, and other essential studio equipment. Working with managing director Deusdedith Kanunu, the station first went on the air in April 2017 with a clear mission: “Reaching Tanzania with the Word of God.”
May many more listeners – just like Juma on that stormy night – hear the hope of Christ through this faithful ministry.
