Sitting in a fertile valley surrounded by mountains is one of the tallest Jesus statues in the world. Cochabamba, the capital city of Bolivia, is located here, known as the “City of Eternal Spring” because of its mild temperatures all year round. It is also home to Christian radio station Mosoj Chaski, which in Quechua means “New Messenger.”
The station went on the air on April 12, 1999. It was started as a joint effort by three different mission organizations: Pioneers, New Tribes Mission and SIM International. Paul Bentley, of Pioneers shares, “We determined that God would have us engage the vision of a radio station specifically for outreach 100% in Quechua to the Quechua people of the country.” The station has been in operation for 25 years, but last year they communicated their need with SonSet Solutions for radio receivers for their shortwave broadcasts.
On September 4, 2024, the station received 960 SonSet® radio receivers. They have distributed them to many listeners. Sebastian Ojeda, a listener from a distant community, says he does everything from cooking, feeding his animals, working in the fields, and planting and harvesting with the companionship of his radio. Everything that he learns, he shares with others who do not have a radio.
Zulma Copa, the director of the radio station, said the shipment met a great need. She shares, “Many brothers are very grateful to have the radio in their hands to listen and be blessed with the word and grow in the knowledge of the truth.”
SonSet Solutions is thankful to be able to meet a need and provide these Quechua people with radio receivers. In the hands of many, it is a “New Messenger,” one that brings hope-filled messages from God’s Word for those who need Jesus.
