Imagine driving an hour and a half on rough, dusty roads to repair a broken water pump. This is a regular occurrence for our ministry partner Design Outreach (DO) serving the people of Malawi. As they approached a particular village, people came running to meet them while singing and dancing, gratitude overflowing even before they reached the village. Driving closer they saw the women wearing head coverings and realized this was a Muslim village. These grateful people were excited to greet the DO team, because they had been without clean water for too long.
As their team repaired the pump, a local pastor preached a very direct message about Jesus Christ. For the very first time these people were hearing the gospel. One hundred fifty women and children sat close to the front, while 100 men stood in the back acting like they weren’t listening, yet hearing every word. Later, Bibles and Bible story books were shared with the villagers.
Why were they open to the message of the gospel? Because people not only came to fix their pump but, using our SonSetLink® technology, they were ensuring the clean water would never stop again. This combination of technology in the hands of ministries says, “We love you.” And when the gate opens because of love, the gospel walks through it.
In later months, after continuing Bible study, the chieftain of that village put his faith in Jesus, and the whole village was allowed to study God’s word. All of this goes back to the day the broken water pump was fixed.
Technology is a common thread in today’s world and a force multiplier in spreading the gospel. This is the work God called us to do. Reaching the remote through ministries like Design Outreach, SonSet Solutions is using technology to demonstrate the love of Christ.
