Mechanical Engineering Internship

Use your mechanical engineering skills to power the gospel. At SonSet Solutions in Elkhart, Indiana, we use technology to support ministries worldwide—and you can be part of that mission. As a Mechanical Engineering Intern, you’ll help develop innovative hardware that supports clean water, sustainable power, radio broadcasting, or remote monitoring. You’ll gain hands-on experience while serving alongside engineers and missionaries. 

What You’ll Do

Contribute to real-world engineering projects such as: 

  • Research and prototyping of mission-critical hardware systems 
  • Electrical and mechanical system design and integration 
  • Hands on fabrication and prototyping using our machine shop and 3D printer 
  • Testing and support for field-deployed equipment 

What We’re Looking For

  • A follower of Jesus Christ with a heart for missions 
  • At least two years into a technical degree (engineering, physics, or related field) 
  • Interested in electronics, embedded systems, power, or mechanical design 
  • Willing to raise support (covers stipend, room & board, and travel reimbursement) 
  • Committed to a full-time summer internship (10-week minimum) 
  • Willing to uphold our Statement of Faith
