When I first applied for the internship program at SonSet Solutions, I didn’t realize the weight of this choice. During the summer of 2020, I doubted that I could find a meaningful career in writing. Fortunately, SonSet Solutions opened my eyes. Because I had spoken to SonSet Solutions representatives my freshman year, they reached out to me and recommended an internship position. At the time, I looked at this move as a desperation pick. However, this internship experience would prove to surpass all expectations. In some ways, it gave me my second wind. Coming to SonSet Solutions has developed me as a worker, as a Christian, and as a friend.
I had never worked a job that involved writing, but worked as a cashier for four summers and as a hard-labor worker for two. While I’m grateful for the experience that these jobs gave me, I didn’t find either position fulfilling. At the time of this writing, I have completed over three quarters of my internship time, but I’ve accomplished more in one summer here than in six summers at my previous jobs. I’m grateful to God for giving me the opportunity to put my writing skills into practice for a worthwhile cause.
The highlight of my experience here has been the people. Inside the workplace, everyone is extremely benevolent, cultivating a culture of sincere servanthood. Outside the workplace, my housemate and I have found a college youth group from a local church, making plenty of Christian friends. I give God the credit for placing these brothers and sisters in my life.
Accepting this position may have been an act of desperation, but it was one of the best decisions I have ever made. I would recommend this experience to any college student.
