In a room filled with voices from more than 60 nations, one thing became immediately clear: everyone present was committed to faithfully serving the Lord.
The Africa by Radio (AbR) conference, which is held every two years, brings together ministry workers from across Africa and around the world for training, encouragement, and networking. This year in Rwanda, the gathering included participants from places as far apart as Australia, Sweden, Egypt, and Liberia — each with a shared desire to reach the world for Christ through radio and other forms of media.
Two of us from SonSet Solutions had the opportunity to attend the conference where we connected with current and potential ministry partners and conducted some technical radio training on transmitters and cabling. Between sessions and shared meals, we heard stories of faithfulness and perseverance that reminded us of how God can greatly use those who follow him.
One partner in Sierra Leone shared with us about his desire to expand his ministry and start a third radio station even further into the remote areas of the country. Another partner who works in Kenya shared about how warring tribes are finding the peace of Christ by hearing the radio broadcasts through SonSet® radios. We even met with people who are serving in very difficult places like Nigeria and South Sudan and want to start radio stations to bring the hope of the gospel to their countries.
As we talked with and worshiped alongside these heroes of the faith — ordinary people who boldly trust in God as they faithfully run the race — we were reminded of the words from Hebrews:
“Let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith” (Hebrews 12:1b-2a, NIV).
We are deeply grateful that at SonSet Solutions, we get to partner with these incredible people who live out this verse as we fix our eyes on Jesus together.
