As soon as I arrived in Elkhart, I noticed an eagerness and excitement that runs through everything SonSet Solutions does. This stems from the fact that the will of God is the primary goal and focus. That focus means every decision is made with the goal of spreading the gospel and fulfilling our part in the Great Commission.
Every morning, we meet to pray for each other, for people around the world, and for any project roadblocks we are facing. The technical problems I get to solve each day are extremely meaningful and often far beyond my understanding. This summer, I have learned to lean on God in boldness and humility. There have been countless times when I came into work facing a problem I could not figure out, with no solution in sight. In those times, I ask God to graciously provide an answer, and He has done so every time.
As a mechanical engineer, I’ve done more this summer than I ever thought possible — developing ventilation for our water pump technology, redesigning sensor configurations now in use across Africa, and even branching into electrical problems, like cellular antenna testing and design. Throughout this work, I have experienced the peace that surpasses all understanding, which comes when my confidence is in God alone and not in myself.
I have also been given a great support base — an encouraging team and a mentor who meets with me once a week to invest in me spiritually. This internship has drastically improved my technical skills, surrounded me with a strong community of believers, and helped me grow closer to God.
My mindset and attitude have been completely transformed because of this summer with SonSet Solutions. With complete trust in God, I now look ahead with eagerness and excitement for what He will do next.
