It was a hot, dusty road. All she could think of was getting to her destination. The rope in her hand reminded her how badly she wanted it all to end. She just couldn’t do this anymore.

Death, destruction, uncertainty, floods, food insecurity, bitter-cold winter days, missiles exploding in the night, electricity a “sometimes thing.” These words describe daily life in much of the country of Ukraine.

Can you imagine being rejected by your family and thrown out of your village because of something horrible that happened to you? These young women are labeled and thrown out of their village.

Imagine 24 choirs coming together to sing praises to the Lord! Imagine six new churches begun in just six years, all due to the influence of a Christian radio station.

What do millions in these countries, located so far from one another and so diverse in culture, have in common? They lack access to the most basic necessity of life – safe drinking water.

Many people in this village died because of unsafe water, which they had traveled up to 10 kilometers to collect. Now, there is a source of safe, clean water right in their village.

I learned that all Christians have only one call, one mission, which is to make disciples of all nations. There are many roles in which we can do that, but the call is the same.

On February 24, 2022, Russia invaded Ukraine, and there has been incredible suffering and despair for many. However, there is a glimmer of hope amidst the darkness.

Fred ended up joining street gangs, using drugs, and eventually becoming mentally ill. He walked around like a mad man on the streets of Gulu for three years.
